Premiere Pro
Find missing Premiere Pro media before you send the project.
A Premiere project can open perfectly on your computer and still be missing half its media on someone else’s. Bundvera reads the project file, lists the media it uses and checks every one against the folder you’re about to send.
Project reading has been validated against project files saved by Premiere Pro 2026 (version 26.x) on macOS. Projects from other versions are read but marked “unverified project version”, so you know to review the result.
How Bundvera reads a project
A .prproj file is gzip-compressed XML. Bundvera reads it as a stream, within strict size limits, and keeps only the media file references it records. It doesn’t need Premiere to be open, installs no plugin, and never writes to the project file.
It then compares each reference with the folder you chose:
- media that exists inside the folder is included;
- media that no longer exists anywhere the project expects is missing;
- media that exists, but outside the folder, is flagged because it won’t be sent;
- Motion Graphics template media stored in a user library is flagged so you can decide whether to include it.
What it checks, and what it doesn’t
| Check | Performed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Media file references | Experimental | Video, audio and still files the project points to |
| Media missing on disk | Yes | Listed by name, with the project that uses it |
| Media outside the delivery folder | Yes | Exists on this computer but won’t be in the package |
| Motion Graphics template media stored elsewhere | Yes | Flagged for review |
| Project file can be read | Yes | A project that can’t be read is reported, never skipped silently |
| Proxy links | No | Not checked |
| Fonts | No | Not checked |
| Effects and third-party plugins | No | Not checked |
| Dynamic Link (After Effects compositions) | No | Not checked |
| The project opens or renders | No | Bundvera never opens or renders projects |
Compatibility
| Project files | Status |
|---|---|
| Premiere Pro 2026 (26.x), saved on macOS | Validated (experimental) |
| Earlier Premiere Pro versions | Read, marked “unverified project version” |
| Projects saved on Windows | Not yet validated |
| Productions and Team Projects | Not tested |
Adobe doesn’t document the project file format, and it can change between versions. That is why the feature is labelled experimental and why every result states which project version was read.
Bundvera and Project Manager
Premiere’s Project Manager collects or consolidates a project’s media into a new location. Bundvera doesn’t replace it. A good sequence is:
- Relink any offline media in Premiere.
- Use Project Manager if you want Premiere to collect or trim the media.
- Run Bundvera on the resulting folder to confirm every referenced file is present.
- Run Deep Verification and send the manifest with the folder.
Questions
Do I need to install a Premiere Pro plugin?
No. Bundvera reads the project file itself. Premiere doesn’t need to be open, or even installed, on the computer running the check.
Does Bundvera change my project file?
No. Project files are opened read-only. Bundvera never writes to, relinks or re-saves a project, and package preparation copies files without modifying the originals.
Will it tell me about missing fonts or plugins?
No. Fonts, effects, third-party plugins and Dynamic Link compositions aren’t checked, and the result lists them as not checked rather than implying they’re fine.
Does a clean result mean the project will open on the editor’s machine?
No. It means the media references Bundvera could read point to files that are in the folder, and, after Deep Verification, that the recipient can confirm those files arrived intact. Open the project on the receiving machine to confirm it works.
